Cooling & heating built for the desert
Air Conditioning Services Built for Arizona
Arizona doesn't have a forgiving climate — and your air conditioner knows it. A system running 10 to 14 hours a day through a Phoenix summer ages faster, fails harder, and needs a technician who understands what desert heat actually does to equipment. At American Home Pros of Arizona, every AC service we offer is built around one principle: honest work, done right, the same day you call.
We're a family owned company based in Queen Creek, and our technicians are hourly employees — not commission-based. That means when we look at your system, we're diagnosing it, not selling it. If it needs a repair, we repair it. If replacement genuinely makes more sense, we'll show you the numbers and let you decide.
Our Air Conditioning Services
AC Repair
When your system stops cooling, starts short-cycling, or makes a noise it didn't make yesterday, we'll be there the same day. We service all major brands and carry the most common parts on every truck — capacitors, contactors, motors, and more — so most repairs happen in a single visit without waiting on a parts order while your house climbs past 90°F. We diagnose before we recommend, every time.

Whether you're replacing an aging system or installing AC in a new build, we size and install the right equipment for your home — not the highest-margin unit on the truck. Arizona's extreme climate changes the sizing calculation significantly compared to national standards; an undersized system runs constantly without reaching setpoint, and an oversized system short-cycles and fails earlier than it should. We walk you through efficiency ratings, brand options, and what actually makes sense for your square footage and attic conditions before anything gets ordered.

The single best way to avoid a July breakdown is a spring tune-up before the heat hits. We inspect, clean, and test every major component — refrigerant levels, condenser and evaporator coils, capacitors, contactors, electrical connections, condensate drain lines, and airflow — so small issues get caught before they become emergency calls. In a climate where AC systems run 10 to 14 hours a day for six months straight, annual maintenance isn't optional — it's the difference between a $150 tune-up and a $1,500 repair.

Heat pumps are an increasingly popular choice in Arizona — they're highly efficient in mild weather and handle both heating and cooling in a single system. But heat pumps fail differently than traditional split systems, and Arizona's extreme summer heat puts unique stress on the reversing valve and refrigerant circuit. We service, repair, and replace all major heat pump brands, including ductless mini-split systems for room additions, casitas, garages, and homes without existing ductwork.

Arizona winters are mild by most standards, but overnight lows in the Valley regularly drop into the 30s and 40s from December through February — cold enough to need a functioning heating system. We install gas furnaces, electric air handlers, and heat pump systems for both new installations and replacements. If your furnace hasn't been run in eight months and isn't responding when you need it, we handle same-day heating repair as well.

Arizona's 110°F+ summers make wine room and wine wall cooling a precision engineering problem — a system sized for normal conditions will fail to hold 55°F when the outdoor temperature is 115°F and the adjacent attic is 150°F. We install and service dedicated wine room cooling systems for walk-in wine cellars and display wine walls across Scottsdale, Phoenix, Queen Creek, and Gold Canyon. Every install includes a dedicated electrical circuit and heat load calculation specific to your room's dimensions and glass exposure.

Arizona's dust, allergens, and dry air create indoor air quality challenges most other climates don't face at the same scale. Haboob season, cottonwood season, and year-round desert particulates all enter your home through the HVAC system if filtration isn't adequate. We install air purifiers, UV-C light systems, whole-home humidifiers, HEPA-grade filtration upgrades, and ERV/HRV ventilation systems — all designed to work with your existing HVAC equipment, not fight it.

A single thermostat controlling a whole house means someone is always too hot or too cold — and in a Valley summer, "too hot" is not a minor complaint. Zoned systems divide your home into independently controlled temperature areas, each with its own thermostat or sensor. They're especially effective in larger homes, two-story layouts, homes with a home office that runs warmer than the rest of the house, or any space with uneven sun exposure. We design and install zoned systems for both new construction and retrofits.

A smart thermostat isn't just a convenience — in Arizona's climate, the right setup can meaningfully reduce your APS or SRP bill by pre-cooling your home during off-peak rate hours and letting temperatures drift up slightly during peak-rate windows without sacrificing comfort. We install and configure Nest, Ecobee, Honeywell Home, and other major smart thermostat brands. We also make sure the thermostat is wired and configured correctly for your specific system — a common issue when homeowners install these themselves and end up with a system that won't heat or control properly.

(602) 428-7027Frequently Asked Questions
How soon can you get to me for an AC repair?
Same-day for most of our service area. For heat emergencies — no AC during a heat advisory, or anyone medically vulnerable in the home — call us directly at (602) 428-7027 and we'll prioritize your call. We answer the phone; you won't reach a voicemail during business hours.
Do you service all AC brands?
Yes — we work on all major residential brands including Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York, Daikin, American Standard, Bryant, Heil, Ruud, Amana, and others. If your brand isn't listed, call us — if it's a residential system, we've almost certainly worked on it.
My AC is 10–12 years old and broke down. Should I repair or replace it?
It depends on what broke and what it costs to fix relative to the system's remaining useful life. We'll give you the actual numbers — repair cost, estimated remaining life given Arizona's accelerated wear conditions, and what a replacement would cost versus what you'd save in energy. We don't push replacement because our technicians earn the same regardless. If repair makes sense, we say repair.
What's included in an AC tune-up?
We check and clean condenser and evaporator coils, test refrigerant levels, inspect capacitors and contactors, clear the condensate drain line, check all electrical connections, test static pressure and airflow at registers, and full cycle-test the system. We document everything and flag anything that needs attention before it becomes a failure — especially important ahead of the summer season.
My AC was fine before a monsoon storm and now it's struggling. What happened?
A few possibilities: a haboob can pack condenser coils with fine particulate in minutes, dramatically reducing the system's ability to shed heat. Lightning or voltage surges during monsoon electrical storms can damage capacitors, contactors, and circuit boards. Heavy rain can cause condensate drain overflows as humidity spikes. Call us — storm-related failures are typically diagnosable and repairable on the same visit.
What's the difference between a heat pump and a standard AC system?
A standard split system AC uses a gas furnace or electric air handler for heating and a separate refrigerant circuit for cooling. A heat pump uses a single refrigerant system for both — it moves heat out of your home in summer (cooling mode) and moves heat into your home in winter (heating mode) by reversing the refrigerant flow. Heat pumps are highly efficient in mild weather, making them well-suited to Arizona's relatively mild winters. In extreme cold they lose efficiency, but that's rarely an issue here.
Do you install ductless mini-split systems?
Yes — ductless mini-splits (single-zone and multi-zone systems) are one of the most effective solutions for room additions, casitas, garages, and any space that isn't connected to the home's central duct system. We install and service all major mini-split brands.
Can a smart thermostat actually lower my APS or SRP bill in Arizona?
Yes — meaningfully. Arizona utilities have time-of-use rate plans where electricity costs significantly more during peak demand hours (typically 3–8 p.m. in summer). A smart thermostat programmed to pre-cool your home in the morning when rates are lower, then allow a slight temperature drift during peak hours, can reduce your cooling cost without making the house uncomfortable. We configure smart thermostats for your specific utility's rate schedule as part of every install.
Do you offer financing?
Yes — financing is available for AC installations and larger repairs. Ask us about current options when you call or book online.
